Headless and Tailless Bird
This installation is a philosophical exploration challenging the fundamental relationship between artwork and its viewer. Tudić questions why we accept the necessity of visual perception as the primary mode of art engagement, suggesting this “self-evident” approach traps us in subject-object divisions that limit true understanding. The work proposes that authentic art experience requires transcending these established boundaries to reconnect with an undivided, unrestricted state of Being that precedes conventional perception. The artist employs the metaphor of a “headless, tailless bird” to symbolize liberation from prescribed viewing frameworks.
This provocative contemporary artwork invites viewers to question automatic patterns of art consumption and the institutional structures that enforce them. Through careful examination of how we engage with artworks, Tudić suggests that true artistic freedom emerges only when we challenge the very foundations of our perceptual frameworks and predetermined responses to art.
About this artwork
This work forms part of Tudić’s broader philosophical investigation into systems of perception, authority, and freedom. The work extends beyond aesthetics to examine how similar limiting frameworks operate in politics, technology, and science—domains where we mechanically adopt established determinations without questioning their origins or necessity. By juxtaposing contemporary artwork with traditional approaches, Tudić prompts us to reconsider “status quo” thinking and the constraints placed on original artworks across all aspects of human experience.
